The Power Racing Series landed in Detroit at about 5am on Thursday and promptly went to bed. Upon waking, our crack team of track gnomes scurried over to The Henry Ford and with the help of our Maker Faire locals assembled the track with some thoughtfully donated tires. (Photos by Alex Hernandez)
After sundown we proceeded to pick up our Diehard batteries from Sears Auto Center and stored them overnight at i3 Detroit. There we met up with Paper Street Motors and i3’s Power Wheel team and discussed track details and event times.
So far the vehicles are inbound and the hackerspaces up to the challenge are making final touches to their vehicles. Five spaces have been listed as race ready with a total number of 9 cars on grid. The first race will take place at 1pm on Saturday and teams will be working up until this time to weed out any issues.
Maker Faire is being held at The Henry Ford Museum on July 31st through August 1st. Pumping Station: One is the Power Racing Series organizer and will be hosting three races on the Maker grounds.
